Monwood Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre, located in the heart of Phillipi in the Western Cape, has been a beacon of hope for children in the community. The centre provides a safe space for children to learn, play, and develop vital skills.
However, due to a lack of funding, Monwood was struggling with its facilities. The roof leaked during the rainy season, and the old double doors were cracked, leaving the children exposed to the elements. The walls were also in urgent need of a fresh coat of paint.
With support from Ackermans Ububele Schools, the centre received much-needed repairs, including a new roof, sealed leaks, and replacement doors. The centre was also painted, creating a bright, secure, and inviting environment for the children.
More than just physical improvements, the partnership with The Unlimited Child also provided the staff with training and mentoring, equipping them with the tools to educate the children effectively. Today, Monwood ECD is a shining light in the community, setting the children on a path toward a brighter future.
